There are three major families within the working equine sector :

Regional Horse Breeds

– Nine national breed associations

– 850 breeders

Draft Horses

– Nine national breed associations

– 6000 breeders

These associations construct breeding policies for the 26 breeds of working equine, as well as for breed promotion. They structure, coordinate, and support the valorization and commercialization of the animals produced, as well as research and development activities.
